For those looking to get off the beaten path, One World Safari Tours offers a variety of unique cultural excursions that allow our guests to see, hear, feel, taste, and even smell the cultural wealth of Tanzania.

We strive to share all the fascinating aspects of Tanzanian culture with our guests in a way that is respectful, fair, and non-exploitive of the local people. For that reason we ask our guests to view their cultural excursions as interactive experiences where tourists and local people can learn from and enrich each other.

Often the most rewarding part of our guests’ Tanzanian experience, these excursions can be undertaken independently or added onto wildlife safaris or treks.

COFFEE PLANTATION TOUR: $60 per person

In the late morning (roughly 10am - 11am), depart for your coffee plantation tour in Tengeru, about 12K outside of Arusha, at Tengeru Cultural Tourism Programme, You will have a cultural talk with a local guide about the Meru tribe culture and history, the importance of sustainable agricultural practices, and other interesting topics, and then go on a short hike through the coffee plantation. After your walk, you will have the opportunity to personally create a batch of coffee from seed to cup (including shucking, roasting, grinding, and brewing over a traditional African "stove"), and enjoy some local snacks, all the while learning about the history and culture of the area and the importance of the coffee bean to the local tribe. You will also have the opportunity to purchase additional amounts of coffee (should you so choose). Proceeds from the tour and coffee purchases support local programs in the Tengeru area.

WATERFALL HIKE ON FOOTHILLS OF MT. MERU: $95 per person

Don your hiking shoes as you head out to trek the foothills of beautiful Mt. Meru, the fifth highest mountain in Africa. Witness the diversity of Tanzanian life as you stroll from the "city" through the "suburbs" of local villages surrounding Arusha. Pass through local Maasai-villages and the rain forest at the foothills of Mt. Meru until you come to the majestic waterfall. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the waterfall before heading back to "civilization".
